My Why

As a student who grew up in poverty and chaos, living in HUD housing, and relying on free and reduced lunch, school became my sanctuary. I was the youngest of eight and the first in my family to graduate from high school and attend college. Through my own experiences, I've witnessed how consistent support from caring adults and access to quality education can uplift individuals across different socioeconomic backgrounds.

My life's purpose is to challenge the inequities within our current education system and improve outcomes for our youth. I aim to achieve this by collaborating with fellow educational leaders and organizations to create relevant, culturally responsive curricula and innovative programs for schools seeking to redefine education as something meaningful, liberating, and rooted in research and best practices.

In my current role at Amplify Education, I work closely with district and school leaders in New York and Virginia to empower students in achieving greater academic success. This is accomplished by ensuring they have access to equitable, engaging experiences and high-quality curricular resources. One of my immediate objectives is to enhance literacy rates across the country by expanding the reach of Science of Reading-based core literacy instruction.
